By the publication of this Newsletter, the Calgary Stampede will have come and gone. Many of you will also be returning from vacations as the new school year begins. We hope everyone had a summer worth celebrating after two years of pandemic turmoil. Our Annual General Meeting was held on June 28 to vote on the Board of Directors for the 2022-23 term. Both MLA Jeremy Nixon and Councillor Sean Chu attended. Wine Tasting: Wines of Southern France with Charcuterie
Cambrian Heights Community is happy to host its first event of the year. Join us for an evening exploring the wines of Southern France on Saturday, May 28, 2022, from 7:00-9:00 pm. Community Members and their guests can taste a sampling of wines from just outside of the Provence area, guided by Highlander Wine and Spirits and enjoy a selection of charcuterie. CHCA Bike Day 2022
Cambrian Heights is hosting our first ever Community Bike Day on Saturday, May 7th from 10-4 at the Community Hall. The event will be held on the east lawn [Skating Rinks], or inside the Community Hall if the weather is poor. The event is free and aims to ensure bikes are safe and ready to ride so kids and families can get out and ride this summer. We will have volunteer bike safety checks, free basic tune-ups, and family-friendly activities. Activities include a kids race course, bike wash, and bike related crafts. Waste & Recycling Services Compost Giveaway
The City of Calgary is offering complimentary compost for residents to use in their yards and gardens this spring. The compost is made from the food and yard waste collected through the Green Cart program. Compost will be available for pickup, by online appointment only, from April 25 to June 11 at Shepard (South) and Spyhill (North) landfills during operating hours. Hazardous Waste Drop-Off Update
The Varsity Multi Service Redevelopment project will affect access to the household hazardous waste drop-off at Varsity Fire Station #17. Effective April 13, 2022, the household hazardous waste drop-off at Varsity Fire Station will temporarily move to Bowness Fire Station #15, located at 6328 35 Avenue NW. Please take your household hazardous waste to this location instead. The drop-off shed is open from 8 am to 6 pm seven days a week and is serviced daily to keep waste levels to a minimum.
