John Laurie Boulevard N.W. Restoration and Reconstruction project Update

I would like to provide you with an update regarding the John Laurie Boulevard N.W. Restoration and Reconstruction project.

Construction & detour updates
Reconstruction on the south side of the intersection of John Laurie Boulevard and Brisebois Drive N.W. is proceeding as scheduled, and expected to be complete on Tuesday, September 24.

As part of this work, a full closure of Brisebois Drive N.W. at the intersection of John Laurie Boulevard N.W. will be taking place from the morning of Tuesday, September 7, straight through until the evening of Saturday, September 11, 2021.

Detour routes for all modes of travel will be in place via Charleswood Drive N.W. and Shaganappi Trail N.W. Eastbound and westbound traffic on John Laurie Boulevard N.W. will be maintained, with turning movements onto Brisebois Drive N.W. restricted. Please refer to the attached map for details.

Detour signage and Variable Message Boards will be on-site to help direct traffic and updates and will be shared via the project webpage and email newsletter.

The project team will work hard to minimize the impacts to commuters and travellers in the area as much as possible, however delays are expected. We are asking the public to please follow all posted signage in the construction area, including speed reductions.

New multi-use pathway connection
A new multi-use pathway connection and accessibility ramps will be built at the northwest corner of the Shaganappi Trail and John Laurie Boulevard N.W. intersection, in coordination with the John Laurie Boulevard N.W. reconstruction project. The addition of this missing link in the 5A Network will enhance accessibility and connectivity for cyclists and pedestrians, providing an important connection from the community of Edgemont to Nose Hill Park and the Shaganappi Trail N.W. intersection.

Completing this connection in conjunction with the John Laurie Boulevard N.W. intersection improvements project, while crews are active in the area, will allow pathway construction to be completed more efficiently and avoid future impacts from completing this work at a later date.

Construction of the pathway is scheduled to be complete in fall 2021.

We will continue to provide your association with updates regarding this project. If you would like to share project updates with the public, I recommend that you direct them to our project web page where they can also sign up for the email newsletter. Feel free to also share the above information via your channels.
