Bring those shiny new skates or borrow a pair from the Skate Shack and celebrate winter with your friends. The skate shack has a huge selection of sizes for anyone interested. We will have a fire pit to keep us warm, hot chocolate bar and cookies for energy and skating fun and games. This is a free event sponsored by the Community Association; one of the many ways in which our casino money goes back into the community. So bring your neighbours, good humour and warm coats and enjoy a day of winter fun.

POLAR PARTY SUCCESS!
Saturday’s Polar Party was another record success with 80 – 100 attendees of all ages. This is the third year of this winter outdoor festival supported by community volunteers and City of Calgary employees. While experiencing very warm weather and chinook winds the ice rinks held up for skaters. Games kept the young participants busy in the snow as did the hot chocolate bar, cakes and cookies. Free skates were provided and children chose to play hockey on the ice or street hockey in the parking lot. Thanks for all who attended this community event.

Community Hall
7:30 – 9:30
On September 16 the Cambrian Heights Community celebrated the 60th anniversary of the community’s first houses being built in 1956. The celebration featured games for the children, a picnic buffet lunch, free period photo’s, a historic community display and both period music and artifacts. A highlight was the attendance of our Ward 7 Councilwomen Druh Farrell who presented the Community with a 60th Anniversary commemorative plaque. A surprise visit by Mayor Naheed Nenshi was well received by all as he made his way through the crowd initiating conversations and allowing many pictures to be taken. Both guests made a short speech which was much appreciated by all especially the many original residents of the community who attended the event.
Many thanks go out to our Social Director Jodi Dixon and her volunteer committee for this very successful and well-attended event.

Once again the Stampede Breakfast was a grade success feeding over 300 with great food and community friendship. Despite the threatening weather and a torn up Northmount Drive we enjoyed generally quiet skies and the warmth of the Community Hall while the volunteers cooked up great pancakes and sausages out doors.
Once again I would like to thank all the volunteers and those that joined in for another successful community event.
Next up our 60th Anniversary Picnic September 17th.

Warm Thanks to all that Came and all that Volunteered
Wow was it cold for the Polar Party on January 16th. We’d like to give a really big thanks for those who dressed for the cold and came out to celebrate winter. We know it could have been easy to shrug the event off and stay indoors – leaving us with a large amount of hot chocolate to drink ourselves. So “yea” to our Community and Canadian spirit.
This year we had some great support from Jessica and Chris who kept us moving with skating and snow games. Of course none of this would have been possible without great ice – Scott, Ryan and the rest of the ice team created 2 fantastic sheets. It has been great to see so many people out skating throughout the season – a testament to “if you build it, they will come”. Lastly, thanks to the Community Association and volunteers who stayed for the duration of the event tending fires, topping up cocoa and keeping the music playing. Thanks also to Jim Tubman who added to the photo gallery!
Please see the Cambrian Heights Community Association 2015 Open House presentation for an overview of the agenda highlights, important facts about Cambrian Heights, financial strength, programs and events, parks and safety, community development issues, planning for the future and getting involved.
Congratulations on a successful community cleanup on May 16. Check out the weights we managed to collect below. Many thanks to everyone for your commitment to this event.
